The Ministry of Railways has launched a special competition in which the people of the country can participate. In this competition, participants have to create a design for a digital clock for the Railways. The best design will be awarded a prize of up to ₹5 lakh.
Golden opportunity to win ₹5 lakh: The design selected will be installed at all railway stations in the country, the ministry said. Professional designers, college or university students and school students can participate in this competition. The aim of this competition is to modernize railway stations and promote new ideas. Those who wish to participate can apply within the stipulated time and avail this golden opportunity.
What to do to win the prize?
The winner of this special competition of the Ministry of Railways will get a grand prize. The winner whose digital clock design is selected to be used in the railways will be given a prize of ₹5 lakh. In addition, five consolation prizes of ₹50,000 each will be given in three categories. Participants can send their designs online between 1 May and 31 May 2025. Each design should also be accompanied by a short note explaining the purpose or theme behind that design. School ID Card Must be Uploaded: Students up to class 12th can participate in the school category. They must upload their school ID card. Students from recognized colleges can participate in the college category.
New rules for waiting list passengers: The Indian Railways has implemented new rules from May 1, 2025 to improve the passenger experience and ensure safe and comfortable travel. These rules are specifically applicable only to waiting list ticket holders. With effect from May 1, waiting list ticket holders will not be able to travel in sleeper or AC coaches. They can travel only in regular coaches. This is a step taken to ensure convenient and safe travel for passengers with confirmed tickets, the Railways has informed.
Till now, those who travelled to distant destinations at railway stations used to travel in sleeper and AC coaches even if their names were on the waiting list when they booked tickets at the counters. However, this rule will change with effect from May 1. From now on, the Railway Department has officially issued an order stating that those who have booked tickets at the counter and are on the waiting list should travel only in general coaches. Failure to comply with these rules will result in a hefty fine.
