Government of Karnataka has come up with ‘Krishi Bhagya’ scheme to hold the hands of farmers. Under this you can build a pit in your land and collect rain water. Most of the cost will be borne by the government itself!
How much is the subsidy?
Subsidy under this scheme for construction of agricultural pits is provided on caste and class basis:
For Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) farmers: % 90% subsidy.
For Other Category (General/OBC) Farmers: Rs. 80% subsidy.
Besides the pit, what other facilities are available?
Not only the digging of wells, the government also subsidizes other equipment needed to utilize well water:
Polythene cover to retain water
Diesel pumpset for irrigation.
Drip irrigation or sprinkler irrigation unit.
A wire fence surrounds the pit for safety.
Where to apply?
Interested farmers should apply directly by visiting the nearest Farmer Contact Center (RSK) or Taluk Assistant Director of Agriculture along with necessary documents.
