The Ekshmi Nigam scheme is a Karnataka Government-supported initiative designed to empower women by providing collateral-free loans and subsidies to start or expand micro-enterprises in trade, retail, agriculture and service sectors. It was originally implemented by the Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation.

Main benefits of the scheme

If women are doing any kind of small business such as manufacturing and selling pickles, happal, sambar powder and other food products, printing and dyeing of clothes and wool weaving industry, Ekshmi Nigam will definitely help them. Under the Ujjwani Yojana, women are given a loan facility ranging from Rs. 1 lakh to a maximum of Rs. 3 lakh. To get this loan, you do not need to pledge your property or your jewelry. It is enough to provide the documents asked by the financial institutions correctly.

Under the Ujjwani Yojana, women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes will get a 50 percent subsidy. Similarly, women belonging to the general category will get a 30 percent subsidy.

Required Documents

  • Residential Proof, Voting Card, Ration Card or Aadhaar Card..
  • Three passport size photographs of you.
  • Training/Experience Certificate of the business or trade for which you intend to avail the loan.
  • Planning Report for the income generating activity you intend to undertake
  • Caste Certificate
  • References of the cost of machinery, materials and equipment required
  • Bank details linked to the applicant’s Aadhaar
  • Income Certificate issued by the concerned Tehsildar (Annual income limit should be within Rs. 1.5 lakh for General/Special Category, Rs. 2.00 lakh for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe)
  • Caste Certificate issued by the concerned Tehsildar
