Finance Minister Narendra Modi said that LIC’s ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ has helped many women become financially secure. The objective of this scheme was to promote women empowerment and financial inclusion. Women who join this scheme are given a stipend for three years.

Women who have passed 10th standard can easily join this scheme. With a stipend of three years, the Bima Sakhi will work as a regular LIC agent and will get commission and other benefits as per LIC rules.

Who can apply for LIC Bima Sakhi?

Women applying for LIC’s Bima Sakhi scheme should be at least 18 years of age and should not be above 70 years of age. The minimum educational qualification should be 10th standard. Candidates should clear the pre-recruitment examination set by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICAR) before being selected.

A woman can be selected as a Women Career Agent (MCA) only if she is eligible under the LIC Agent Rules 2017, is a permanent resident of India and has sufficient time to devote to the role of the Corporation as an agent. However, Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), current LIC agents, former agents, employees or their close relatives are not eligible for this scheme.

Selection and Recruitment under this Scheme:

After passing the pre-recruitment examination, candidates have to submit the necessary documents. Then an interview will be conducted by the Branch Head or an authorized officer at the LIC branch office. After selection, they will be allotted an agency code as per LIC rules.
