The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has given good news to engineering candidates looking for central government jobs. The notification for SSC Junior Engineer (JE) Recruitment 2026 has been released and the online application process has started for a total of 1,748 posts. Last date to apply is September 22nd
The application process for SSC JE 2026 has started from September 2, 2026. Eligible candidates should apply by 11 pm on September 22, 2026. The application fee can be paid till September 23.
If there are any mistakes in the application, corrections can be made from September 28 to 30.
For which posts are they being recruited?
This recruitment includes Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Telecom) posts in various central government departments. In addition, Scientific Assistant posts in Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) are also part of the recruitment.
What is the educational qualification?
Candidates with a diploma or degree in a relevant engineering discipline can apply. The educational qualification may vary depending on the post and department. Therefore, candidates should check the official notification.
Age Limit
Generally, the age of the candidates should be between 18 to 30 years. For some posts, the maximum age limit is 32 years. Candidates belonging to the reserved category will get age relaxation as per the rules.
How much is the salary?
SSC JE posts come under Pay Level-6 of the 7th Pay Commission. Selected candidates will get a pay scale ranging from ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400.

When is the exam?
The SSC JE 2026 Paper-I computer-based exam is likely to be held in October or November 2026. SSC has said that Paper-II will be held in December 2026.
Application Fee
The application fee for general candidates is ₹100. Female candidates, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from the fee.
