With the new academic year 2026-27 starting, the state government has issued a very important order in the educational interest of students. The government has given official approval to temporarily appoint a total of 51,000 guest teachers to fill the vacant teaching posts in government primary and secondary schools in the state.
Since schools are starting early in the month of May itself, this urgent order has been issued in order to prevent academic activities from being hampered from the first day itself.
Important conditions and background of the appointment:
Temporary appointment: This appointment of guest teachers is completely temporary and is applicable only till the permanent teachers are filled through direct recruitment or till the end of the current academic year (whichever is earlier).
Consent of the Finance Department: This order has been issued as per the official concurrence given by the Finance Department on 20.05.2026 (Note No.: AE 371 Expenditure-8/2026).
Next Action: The department has been directed to submit a fresh proposal with district and taluk-wise details for the payment of honorarium to a total of 51,000 guest teachers to be appointed.
