As a significant step towards strengthening the sports sector of the country, the Sports Authority of India has invited applications from eligible Indian citizens for the recruitment of 323 Assistant Coach (Assistants Coach) posts specialized in 26 different sports.

Eligible and interested candidates can apply by February 15. Appointed Assistant Coaches will be deployed at Sai Regional Centers, National Centers of Excellence (NCOE) and Training Centers across the country. These posts are Group ‘B’ Entry Level Posts of Coach Cadre and the selected candidates will have a growth opportunity for higher posts in future.

What is the salary!: Candidates selected for these posts will get a monthly salary of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400 under Pay Level-6. Prior to this, these posts included Pay Band-II (₹9,300-34,800) and Grade Pay ₹4,200.

The list of sports disciplines for which assistant coach recruitment will be held is very wide. The posts are available in Athletics (28), Shooting (28), Swimming (26), Wrestling (22), Boxing (19), Badminton (16), Table Tennis (14), Hockey (13), Football (12), Gymnastics (12), Cycling (12), Basketball (12), Archery (12), Fencing (11), Rowing (11), Taekwondo (11), Tennis (8), Volleyball (10), Weightlifting (10), Judo (6), Kabaddi (6), Handball (6), Wushu (6), Canoeing (7), Sepak Takraw (3) and Kho-Kho (2).

Eligibility and Reservation!

The recruitment will be done as per the Government of India’s benchmark reservation policy, with 33% horizontal reservation for women candidates in each sports discipline. The maximum age limit for applying is 30 years. Qualifications include a coaching diploma or equivalent from SAI NSNIS (Patiala) or a recognized Indian/foreign university. In addition, candidates who have participated in the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games or World Championships, or have a coaching certificate, or have received the Dronacharya Award in a relevant sport are also eligible.
