South Western Railway, one of the major railway divisions of our state, has invited applications from eligible candidates for a total of 904 apprentice posts recommended in various railway divisions and workshops including Hubballi, Bangalore, and Mysore.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 10th class or its equivalent by the date of application.
Must have at least 50% marks in 10th class itself.
In addition, candidates should have National Trade Certificate in the relevant trade from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) recognized by NCVT or SCVT.
Candidates applying should attach the certificate of completion of their ITI course.

Important Notes:

Not just 10th pass – ITI Trade Certificate is mandatory.
Candidates with Engineering Degree or Diploma are not eligible for this Act Apprenticeship recruitment.
Trade Certificate must be from an NCVT/SCVT recognized institution.
Self-attested copies along with original documents are mandatory during document verification.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: Candidate must have completed 15 years (as on last date of application – 13-08-2025)
  • Maximum Age: Candidate must not have exceeded 24 years (as on 13-08-2025)
  • Age Relaxation
  • For SC/ST candidates: Maximum age relaxation of 5 years is available.
  • For OBC candidates: Maximum age relaxation of 3 years is available.
  • For Disabled candidates: Maximum age relaxation of 10 years is available.
  • For Ex-Servicemen candidates: Age relaxation of up to 3 years is allowed.
  • Important Note:
  • To confirm the age of the candidate, SSLC certificate or birth certificate must be attached.
  • Reserved category candidates must attach their caste certificate and documents confirming the eligible age relaxation with the application.
  • If any wrong documents are found during the application verification, the application will be rejected.

Application Fee
For General, OBC, and EWS candidates:
Application fee ₹ 100/- only.
For SC/ST candidates:
No application fee – completely fee waiver available.
For Women candidates:
No application fee for all categories of women candidates.
For Disabled candidates:
Application fee is completely waived – ₹ 0/-
Payment method:
Application fee has to be paid online only (Debit card/ Credit card/ Internet banking).
Application fee cannot be paid through Draft or IPO.
Important Note:
✔️ Application fee once paid cannot be withdrawn for any reason.
✔️ The link to pay the application fee will be activated only at the time of application submission.
✔️ Railways is not responsible for wrong payment or duplicate payment.

Selection method
This recruitment process is completely Merit based – there is no written test or interview.

The selection process steps are as follows:
Merit List:
The selection will be done on the basis of the average percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in 10th class (SSLC) and ITI course.
No weightage will be given to the marks.
If the marks of two candidates are same, the senior will be given preference based on the age of the candidate.

Original Document Verification:
If the shortlisted candidates are not called for Document Verification (DV).
It is mandatory to bring all the original documents like SSLC ITI Trade Certificate, Community Certificate, PWBD Certificate (for the disabled) and so on.
Medical Examination:
Act Apprentices should be in good physical health as per the rules.
Medical examination is being done by Railway Hospital or Railway Doctor.
