Government orders appointment of 36,944 guest teachers in government primary schools in the state; Here is the district-wise list of posts

The School Education Department has issued an official order for the appointment of a total of 36,944 guest teachers for the 2026-27 academic year with the aim of filling the vacant teaching posts in government primary schools in the state and safeguarding the educational interests of students.

The department has allowed the temporary appointment of guest teachers till the appointment of permanent teachers or till the end of March 2027, whichever is earlier. Out of the total posts approved by the government, in the first phase, 30,337 vacant posts were allowed for the appointment of guest teachers district-wise and taluk-wise. This appointment has been made as per the terms and conditions prescribed by the government.

6,617 additional posts in the second phase

Based on the demands received from the districts and the student-teacher ratio (PTR), 6,617 additional guest teacher posts have been allotted in the second phase. With this, the total allocation of guest teacher posts for the year 2026-27 has been completed.

Instructions for transparent recruitment

District Deputy Directors and Field Education Officers should conduct the recruitment process in a completely transparent manner. The School Education Department has instructed the schools in need to immediately issue school-wise post allocation orders and complete the recruitment as per the rules.

Disciplinary action if any irregularity is found

The department has warned that if any irregularity, omission or violation of rules is found in the recruitment of guest teachers, the Field Education Officers of the concerned taluk or zone will be held directly responsible and disciplinary action will be taken.
