Raitha Vidyanidhi Yojana 2026: ‘Raitha Vidyanidhi’ is at the top of the most important schemes implemented by the Karnataka State Government for the educational development of farmer families. This scholarship is being provided with a view to ensuring that the children of farmers should not be deprived of higher education due to financial hardship. Currently, eligible students for the 2025-26 academic year are eligible to avail this facility, and the application process is underway through the State Scholarship Software. Scope of the scheme and new additions
This scheme was initially limited to the children of land-owning farmer families. However, as per the recent decision of the government, the scope of this scheme has been expanded considerably. Now, not only the children of farmers, but also the children of various working classes involved in the agricultural sector can avail this financial assistance.
Currently, the following categories of children are eligible to apply under the Raitha Vidyanidhi Scheme:
Children of farmer families who have their own agricultural land.
Children of landless agricultural labourers in rural areas.
Children of weavers’ families.
Children of fishermen’s families.
Children of auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers.
Due to this expansion, children of lakhs of poor families in the state have been provided with a large level of support to pursue graduation and post-graduation education.
Mandatory Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the Rytha Vidyanidhi Yojana, students should ensure that they fulfill the following criteria:
The applicant student should be a permanent resident of the state of Karnataka.
The student’s father or mother should own agricultural land and should have a Farmer Identification Number registered in their name in the FRUITS software.
In case of children of landless agricultural labourers, the annual income of the parents should be within the limit of Rs. 2.50 lakhs.
The student should be pursuing any recognized course after 8th standard i.e. PUC, ITI, Diploma, Degree, Medical or Engineering.
This scholarship is available only to the passed students and is not applicable to those who are studying for the second time in the same class.
Which students will get how much financial assistance?
The government has fixed an annual subsidy based on the course and gender of the students. This amount will be directly credited to the student’s bank account.
- For girls in classes 8 to 10: Rs 2,000.
- For boys pursuing PUC, ITI, Diploma: Rs 2,500 and for girls: Rs 3,000.
- For boys pursuing general degree courses like BA, BSc, BCom: Rs 5,000 and for girls: Rs 5,500.
- For boys pursuing professional courses like Law, Paramedical, Nursing: Rs 7,500 and for girls: Rs 8,000.
- For boys pursuing MBBS, BE, BTech and Postgraduate degree: Rs 10,000 and for girls: Rs 11,000.

- Aadhaar card copy of the student and parents.
- Student’s SATs ID number or college registration number.
- Parents’ farmer identification number.
- Current caste and income certificate.
- Land title deed or RTC documents.
- Bank account details and confirmation that Aadhaar card is linked to the bank account.
- Receipt of college admission fee for the current year.
