Good news for state ‘ration card’ holders: Name addition, correction allowed again!

The Karnataka government has given another piece of good news to the BPL ration card holders of the state. The government, which had recently allowed the reinstatement of BPL cards that were cancelled even though they were eligible, has now re-allowed the correction of errors in the ration card (ration card correction).

The public can apply for name addition, correction or any other changes in their ration cards online or offline within the specified period.

The government has given a long time for the public to avoid last-minute hassle and technical difficulties for this correction process. Eligible beneficiaries have been requested to visit their nearest ‘Grama One’, ‘Karnataka One’ or ‘Bengaluru One’ centers by March 31, 2027 and apply for correction along with the necessary documents. The government has set a specific time to control the server problem on the websites, and the public should take advantage of it.

  • Change of photo

  • Aadhar card
  • Marriage certificate

Ration card amendment methods

  • Visit the official website https://ahara.kar.nic.in/home
  • Select e-services on the main page.
  • Click on the option for request for amendment or new addition.
  • Fill in the required information in the form on the new page.
  • Then upload a scanned copy of all the documents mentioned there.
  • Submit the form after uploading.
  • Your updated new ration card will be delivered to your home only if all the documents you provided during the application process are correct.

It is mandatory to keep the acknowledgement letter received after submitting the application in a safe place. This is essential to check the status of the application. The revised new ration card will reach you within 15 to 30 days of submitting the application. Only in case of urgent need, it will be available within 7 to 10 days of completion of the process.
