More than 5.18 lakh ineligible beneficiaries who were receiving money through ration and DBT in the names of the deceased have been identified and their names have been removed from the beneficiary list.

Why are so many beneficiary names being deleted now?
The government has taken up this task because ration and DBT money was being received in the names of the deceased and ineligible beneficiaries. The government has deleted the names of more than 5.18 lakh ineligible beneficiaries by identifying them.
The government, which did not provide ration to the living under the Annabhagya scheme, had caused a loss of crores of rupees to the government exchequer by distributing it to the dead. Since complaints were received about this, the Food Department has taken up the task of identifying and deleting the names of ineligible beneficiaries from July to August.
Despite the government’s instructions to remove the names of those who have died in the family, many people were not removing the names of the deceased from their ration cards. Hence, the government has taken this drastic step.
