Rent bill is useful for us as address proof. Electricity bill is useful as address verification document when we want to get Aadhaar, PAN, driving license etc.
The bill is also useful when we want to update the address in identity documents.
If you have purchased a flat and established a permanent residence or if there is a current bill in the name of someone else in your family, you can easily change the name in it. You can change it online at home. Many people do not know this and do things like canceling the old connection and getting a new connection. But without such a need, let’s see how to change the current bill in your name.
What documents are required?
-If you are buying a flat, a registered sale deed, gift deed is required. Also, any certificate like Aadhaar, PAN should be there. Now, a compensation bond in the name of Rs.100 non-judicial stamp should be uploaded. This bond format is available on the TGSPDCL website. Download it, fill all the details and submit.
-All the documents should be signed. After signing, upload them on the online portal.
- The compensation bond should be in PDF format and should not exceed 500KB. The registered sale deed should be in PDF format and should not exceed 5MB. Your identity proof should be in JPG or PEG format and should not exceed 100KB. These should be uploaded on the TGSPDCL website.
-If you want to change the property in the name of husband and wife from one name to another, you will have to provide NOC. NOC should be given on a non-judicial bond paper of Rs. 10.
-If the owner of the house dies, the heirs can change it by showing the death certificate.
How to apply..?
- Open the TGSPDCL website
- Select the Customer Services option on the home page.
- Select the Service Request option
- Enter the Unique Service Number and mobile number found on your current bill.
- Enter the OTP received on your mobile number
- Select the Title Transfer option
- Upload the documents
- The electricity department will verify your details and change the name on the bill.
- After the change, your name will be on the current bill.
- An application fee of Rs. 25 will be required.
