Fire extinguisher recruitment notification 2026 soon

The fire and emergency services department of the state of Karnataka will soon witness a major change. Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar has announced that more than 1,600 vacant posts in the department will be filled. This important appointment is further special with many new facilities and policy changes.

Important changes and announcements

· Massive Recruitment: The government has proposed to the Chief Minister to fill up more than 1,600 vacant posts in the Fire and Emergency Services Department. The recruitment process will start as soon as this proposal is approved.
· Reservation for women: For the first time, it has been decided to give 10 per cent reservation to women in direct recruitment in the fire service. This has paved the way for the recruitment of women fire brigade personnel in the state.
· Gender-Neutral Names: Remove the traditionally used term ‘Fireman’ and use the gender-neutral term ‘Firefighter’ in official documents and future recruitment notifications. The post of ‘Leading Fireman’ is also being renamed as ‘Leading Firefighter’.
· Housing facility for staff: It has been decided to provide housing facility for the fire brigade personnel on the model of ‘Police House’ of the police department. 40,000 houses have already been built for the police, and in the same model, necessary funds will be provided to build houses for the firemen.
· Infrastructure Development:
· A proposal has been submitted to the government to set up new fire stations in 15 new taluks of the state.
· A total of ₹329 crore has been earmarked for the department under the 15th Finance Commission grant, and construction of 21 new fire stations has already been completed at a cost of ₹98 crore.
· 40 new fire tenders equipped with advanced technology have been handed over to the department.
· In line with the increasing number of multi-storied buildings in Bangalore, an ‘Aerial Ladder Platform’ vehicle capable of reaching a height of 90 meters has been put to use by the department.
