
The new Aadhaar app allows users to update their mobile number without visiting an enrollment center
This option was not available in the old mAadhaar app, where mobile numbers could be updated only after biometric verification at an Aadhaar center. In the new app, users can complete the update via facial recognition. Yes, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the agency that regulates Aadhaar, has announced a new digital service.
How to use the new Aadhaar app:
To use the app, you first need to download it from Play Store or App Store.
Then, select the language and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
The app will then ask you to send an SMS from your Aadhaar-registered mobile number.
After entering oTP, you will be redirected to perform face authentication.
After completing the Face authentication, you will need to enter a six-digit password.
Now you can see your Aadhaar card on the profile page of the app. You can mask it, share it and add a biometric lock.
So you can update your mobile number in Aadhaar card sitting at home in the coming days.
UIDAI has issued an announcement on its official ‘X’ account, clarifying that henceforth citizens can update the mobile number registered in their Aadhaar card from home. Although the tweet did not mention the exact date when this new facility will be launched, it said that this new process will be more simple and convenient for people than the current one
