Applications have been invited online for group wedding expenses to be carried out by voluntary organizations to encourage simple marriages of economically backward minority communities in the current financial year.
The application should be submitted through the website https://gokdom.kar.nic.in.
The notification states that to get the incentive, the marriage certificate and other necessary documents should be submitted in the prescribed format to the district authorities, Minority Welfare Department, within 3 months of the date of marriage.
Encouragement for simple marriages of minority communities
With the aim of encouraging simple marriages of minority communities and reducing the financial burden, Rs. 50 thousand will be given to each couple for simple marriages conducted through voluntary service organizations.
Conditions to avail the benefit:
The bride and groom applying must belong to the minority community belonging to the state of Karnataka.
At least 10 couples must have participated in the mass marriages.
The bride seeking the benefit should be at least 18 and maximum 42 years old and the groom should be at least 21 and maximum 45 years old.
The annual income of the bride and groom should not exceed Rs. 2.50 lakhs and the total income of both should not exceed 5 lakhs.
If the groom already has a living wife and the bride has a living husband, they will not be eligible for this scheme.
