Government to provide ₹5,000 subsidy to Kannadigas going to and from Kashi Yatra; Applications invited from today!

The Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department has invited applications for assistance of Rs. 5,000 each from the state government to 30,000 pilgrims who have gone on the Kashi Yatra from Karnataka. Those who have already gone on the Yatra, if they go again in the future, if they submit the relevant documents with the applications to the government, the assistance will be paid directly to the bank account.

Applications have been invited from today (from June 15) for the distribution of government assistance of Rs. 5000/- each to 30000 pilgrims who have undertaken the Kashi Yatra for the first time from the state of Karnataka in the year 2025-26. An official notification has also been issued by the Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments in this regard. However, it is mandatory to provide official documents regarding the visit to the Kashi Yatra.

Eligibility for getting Kashi Yatra assistance:

  • Pilgrims who have gone for the Kashi Yatra must be permanent residents of Karnataka.
  • Only pilgrims above 18 years of age can apply.
  • Pilgrims must upload both sides of their Aadhaar card.
  • Voter ID card/ration card must be submitted.
  • Pilgrims must upload a ticket regarding their journey to Kashi.
  • Eligible pilgrims must submit their application online on the Seva Sindhu web portal (https://sevasindhuservices.karnataka.gov.in) from July 15 to November 15 by 04:00 PM.

Once the pilgrims have received the subsidy once, the same person will not be given the subsidy again. In this regard, the pilgrims should self-certify on an E-Stamp Paper of Rs. 100 that they have not received the subsidy in the past and upload the confirmation with a notary seal and signature.

In order to confirm that they have undertaken the Kashi Yatra, a photograph/photo with GPS location of the pilgrims should be taken on the mobile phone in front of the Kashi Vishwanath Swamy Temple and loaded into the app.

Before submitting the application, the pilgrim should have a valid bank account, and the Aadhaar card should be Seeded and NPCI should be Active for the said bank account. (As per the government guidelines, the grant for each year is allowed to be paid in each year, so if the Aadhaar card is not linked to the bank account, the applicant is directly responsible for the Seed and NPCI Active not being made within the specified date.) Applications seeking assistance after the deadline will not be considered.
