The ‘PM Yashasvi’ Scholarship Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, to provide educational assistance to students belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Economically Backward Classes (EBCs) and Scheduled Tribes (DNTs).
Through this scheme, scholarships of up to Rs 3.72 lakh are being provided to eligible students.
This scholarship is being implemented with the aim of providing financial assistance to students belonging to Backward Classes (OBC) & Nomadic and Nomadic Tribes (E.B.C) to pursue higher education.
By applying for PM Yashaswini Scholarship, students can study up to Rs 2 lakh per year if they are studying in private institutions and up to Rs 3.72 lakh per year if they are studying in commercial practical training and model rating courses. Students who have applied for PM Yashaswini Scholarship will be given Rs 3000 per month for living expenses or other expenses.
Eligibility
- Scholarships are open to Indian citizens only.
*Scholarship award will be sanctioned in case of students whose annual income of parents/guardians does not exceed ₹2,50,000/-.
*Students should be studying in class IX and X on full-time basis in Government schools only.
*They should belong to OBC, EBC or DNT (not covered under SC, ST or OBC) categories through a valid certificate.
*Scholarship holders under this scheme shall not be in receipt of any other educational scholarship for the purpose of studying in class IX and X.
*If any other educational scholarship is offered for studying in class IX and X, students can avail any of the two scholarships as per their choice and should inform the Head of the Institution about their choice.
Income certificate is required to be taken only once, i.e. at the time of admission to the courses
- This scheme will be advertised by the concerned State Government/UT Administration in due course by giving advertisements in leading language newspapers, local dailies and their websites/scholarship portals and other media channels.
*All applications should be submitted through the online portal along with the required certificates. There should be no paper applications. Applicants can apply through the specific online portal of the State/UT and the National Scholarship Portal.
