Renewal required after 5 years

The blue Aadhaar card is slightly different from the adult Aadhaar card. For the blue Aadhaar, the fingerprint scan of the child is not required. One of the parents has to present their Aadhaar card for verification. The child’s Aadhaar card also contains a 12-digit unique identification number and comes in blue colour. How to get a blue Aadhaar card?

  • Visit the official UIDAI website at uidai.gov.in.
  • Click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab and select the ‘Book an appointment’ option.
  • Select the ‘Book an appointment at a UIDAI-run Aadhaar Seva Kendra’ option.
  • Select your city and click ‘Proceed to book an appointment’.
  • Enter your mobile number and captcha, then click ‘Get OTP’.
  • Enter the OTP sent to your mobile number.
  • Select the appointment date and visit the Aadhaar centre on that date.
  • At the Aadhaar centre, one of the parents must present their Aadhaar card and a copy of the child’s birth certificate.
  • Submit passport-sized photographs of the child and fill the Aadhaar card application form.
  • After registration, you will receive an SMS.
  • After a few days, the child’s Aadhaar card will be sent by post or can be downloaded online from the UIDAI website.

How to update Aadhaar after 5 years?

After a child turns 5 years old, their biometric information needs to be updated in Blue Aadhaar. An appointment needs to be booked for this. After that, you need to visit the Aadhaar center with all the necessary documents. The child’s biometric data will be stored at the Aadhaar center and this data will be added to the child’s Aadhaar card. This process is completely free. After updating the biometric data, there will be no change in the child’s Aadhaar number.
