If you are in a government job and looking for an opportunity to work in one of the country’s leading investigative agencies, then there is good news for you. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced recruitment for a total of 111 posts of Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI), Head Constables and Data Entry Operators.

The speciality of this recruitment is that eligible candidates up to the age of 56 years can apply.

Selected candidates will get a salary ranging from ₹25,500 to ₹92,300 depending on the post. This recruitment is not a direct recruitment, but is being done on deputation basis. The application process has started on October 21, 2026 and candidates can apply offline till December 20, 2026.

What posts are vacant in NIA?

The National Investigation Agency has issued an official notification to fill a total of 111 vacancies. Most of these posts are for Head Constables. The recruitment drive will fill 23 Assistant Sub-Inspector posts. In addition, 53 Head Constable posts will be filled. Candidates will also be selected for 35 Data Entry Operator posts. This brings the total number of vacancies for these three posts to 111. Applications are being accepted offline for all these posts. Candidates up to the age of 56 years can also apply.

The key feature of this NIA recruitment is the maximum age limit for the candidates. While many government recruitments usually have a maximum age limit of 30 to 40 years, NIA has fixed the maximum age limit for this recruitment at 56 years. This means that eligible candidates up to the age of 56 years who fulfill the qualifications and other requirements required for the respective posts can also apply.

The age of the candidates will be calculated based on the last date for submission of applications, i.e. December 20, 2026. It is important to understand that fulfilling the age requirement does not make them eligible to apply. They must also fulfill the placement and other eligibility requirements for the respective post.

Can candidates who have passed 12th class also apply?

In this NIA recruitment, the minimum educational qualification for the post of Head Constable should be 12th class pass.

Candidates who have passed 12th class or equivalent qualifications from a recognized board will meet the educational eligibility criteria for this post. This recruitment is based on deputation. Therefore, just passing 12th class is not sufficient. The candidates applying should also fulfill the prescribed conditions related to the relevant departmental service and deputation. Therefore, candidates who are not currently employed in any government department and wish to apply for a government job for the first time should not consider this recruitment as a general fresher post.

What are the qualifications required for Assistant Sub-Inspector?

NIA recruits 23 Assistant Sub-Inspector posts. Candidates should be graduates from a recognized university or institution. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in the relevant field. This experience should be in criminal investigations, intelligence work, operations or information technology management. Candidates who are already working in the relevant government departments and have experience in these fields can apply if they meet the prescribed deputation criteria.

IT Certificate Required for Data Entry Operator Posts

NIA has announced recruitment for 35 Data Entry Operator posts. Eligible officers working in Central Government, State Government, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) or Autonomous Government Organizations can apply for these posts. Candidates should be regularly appointed in an equivalent post in their parent cadre or department. They should also have an ‘O’ Level or ‘A’ Level Certificate in Information Technology (IT). Therefore, before applying for the post of Data Entry Operator, candidates should check their departmental status and eligibility for IT certification.

What is the salary in NIA?

Candidates selected in the National Investigation Agency are paid in different pay scales depending on the post.

The pay scale for the selected candidates for the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector is fixed from Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 per month. The pay scale for the post of Head Constable is from Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,700. The candidates selected for the post of Data Entry Operator will be paid as per the pay scale of Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 per month. Apart from this, the selected candidates will also be given other benefits and allowances as per the applicable government rules.

NIA Recruitment 2026: When can you apply?

Applications will be submitted offline only. Therefore, candidates should fill the prescribed application form and send it to the provided address by post along with the necessary documents. Candidates are advised to submit their applications on time instead of waiting for the deadline to avoid any hassles due to postal delays.
