There is an important update for candidates across the country who are preparing to take up a career in the postal department. The notification for the India Post Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment session has been released, ending the wait of lakhs of candidates who were waiting for GDS posts.

Application Dates and Online Process:
India Post GDS Recruitment One Time Registration Process will start on August 31 and registration will be open till September 19. The online application process will start from September 2 and will end on September 21. A correction window will be open from September 23 to September 24 to correct any mistakes in the application. Interested candidates will have to apply online through the official website indiapost.gov.in.
Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit:
Candidates who have passed 10th class (SSLC) from any recognized board are eligible to apply for these posts. Candidates should have studied Mathematics and English in their 10th class and should have knowledge of the local language of the concerned state. The age of the candidates applying should be between 18 to 40 years.
How is the selection process done?
There is no written examination for India Post GDS recruitment. The candidates will be shortlisted by preparing a system automated merit list based on the marks obtained in 10th class. The department will verify the educational records of the selected candidates online through API Setu, Digi Locker or the official website of the concerned educational board.
Steps to apply online:
- First visit the official website of India Post at indiapost.gov.in.
- Click on the ‘India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 Registration’ link that appears on the homepage.
- Register by providing your basic details on the new page that opens.
- After completing the registration, log in and fill the application form correctly.
- Pay the required prescribed application fee and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
- After successful submission of the application, download the Confirmation Page and take a printout.
