The Women and Child Development Department has taken a significant step to prevent misuse of the state government’s ambitious ‘Grihalakshmi’ scheme and ensure that the benefits of the scheme are only available to the deserving. The department is making final preparations to invite fresh applications and the official guidelines will be released in the next 2-3 days.
The government has taken seriously the fact that money is being received in the name of deceased persons under the scheme and IT (Income Tax) and GST payers are also benefiting from this scheme. Hence, this time the rules are being tightened and applications will not be allowed to be filed in the name of IT/GST payers and deceased persons.
How to apply?
Through the app: The ‘Grihalakshmi Scheme App’ will be installed on the mobile phone of the Anganwadi staff. With the help of this, the illiterate and the poor can easily apply.
Service centers: Application has also been allowed at Karnataka One, Bangalore One, Gram One and other service centers.
Biometric Mandatory: It has been decided to use biometric or face recognition technology of the applicant while accepting the application.
Required information and qualifications:
Mandatory information: In addition to the details like name, address, Aadhaar number in the previous application, this time it is mandatory to provide bank account information in Karnataka.
Caste Certificate: If caste certificate is not provided, self-declaration will be required.
Who is eligible?: Women who are already benefiting from the scheme, new entrants and BPL and APL card holders are eligible to apply.
The government has taken steps to make this scheme, which provides Rs 2000 per month, more transparent and the new application process will begin in a few days.
