As part of the upcoming 2027 Census, the public has been given the opportunity to provide their family information online (self-enumeration). The public should make good use of this secure web portal facility and actively participate in the census, said Bangalore City Deputy Commissioner G.Jagadish has appealed.
The house listing and census work will officially begin in the district from April 16. An online portal will be opened 15 days before this, i.e. from April 1, 2026, and the public can enter information using their mobile or computer.
Self-Enumeration Period: From April 01, 2026 to April 15, 2026.
Official Web Portal: se.census.gov.in
Devices: Available through mobile, desktop, laptop.
How is the information filling process?
The public must mandatorily enter their state, district, taluk, village/town/city and location details in the portal. For accuracy, a sophisticated system has been implemented in the portal to identify the location of the house through pincode and digital map.
The questions in the Self-Enumeration portal are modeled after the mobile app used by the enumerators. Some information may be pre-filled, and guidelines and frequently asked questions (FAQs) are also provided on the website for the convenience of citizens.
Simply provide an ‘ID’ to the enumerators:
After successfully submitting the household information online, a unique ‘Self-Enumeration ID’ will be sent to the citizen’s mobile number via SMS and email. Then, the enumerators who visit the house will only need to share this ID.
Participating in the self-enumeration online will not only save the time of the public and the staff, but will also help in collecting accurate and comprehensive information, the District Collector clarified in the announcement.
