A new syllabus (revised syllabus) has been implemented in Karnataka from the academic year 2024-25. This is the Karnataka state syllabus based on the NCERT books.
Major changes:
- The old term “Social Science” has been replaced by the new name “Social Science”.
- The divisions of State Branch and Federal Branch have been abolished.
- One textbook and one syllabus have been implemented for all students.
Subject Classification and Syllabus:

The textbook is published by the Karnataka Textbook Society (KTBS).

Exam Pattern (As per Exam Pattern – 2024-25):
· The question paper will be for a total of 80 marks.
· Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs): 1 × 12 = 12 marks
· Short Answer Questions: 2 × 14 = 28 marks
· Essay Questions: 4 × 8 = 32 marks
· Map/Diagram: 1 × 8 = 8 marks
· Historical Map: 3 marks
· Geographical Map: 3 marks
· Diagram (Business Studies): 2 marks
