Is it true that you will get a subsidy? What is the specialty of this scheme?
To speed up agricultural work and increase yield, the Central Government has implemented the ‘Kisan Tractor Scheme’. It is available under the Sub-Mission for Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM).
- Tractor under ₹1 lakh: A maximum subsidy of 50% is available on the ‘on-road’ price of the new tractor you buy. That means you only have to pay half the money!
- Key Priority: Small and marginal farmers, as well as women farmers, have been given special priority under this scheme.
- Transparency: The subsidy process is very fast and transparent through the government’s ‘Release Order’ system.
In addition, there is also the opportunity to easily get a bank loan from banks for the remaining expenses. This means that a modern tractor is almost certain to join your farm!
Are you eligible for this subsidy? The key conditions are:
Apart from the size of your land, to avail the benefits of the scheme, you need to meet some key eligibility criteria:
- Must be an Indian farmer. (This is important)
- The annual income of the family should be less than ₹2 lakh. (This scheme is for small farmers only!)
- Your family should not have received any subsidy from the central or state for the purchase of a tractor in the past.
- This subsidy is available only once per family.
- Proof of land ownership in your name or the name of the family is mandatory.
Important documents required for application:
- Aadhaar card (Farmer’s identity proof)
- Bank passbook (Subsidy money will be credited directly to the account)
- Land ownership document (Cession/Account letter)
- Recent passport size photograph
- Tractor price list (Quotation of the model you want to buy)
Remember: After submitting the application, the Agriculture Department will verify and approve your documents. You can avail the subsidy only after your name appears in the ‘Release Order’ list.
