Applications invited for the recruitment of 9,499 guest teachers | Guest Teacher Jobs

Applications are invited for the temporary recruitment of 9,499 guest teachers for the vacant teacher posts in government high schools in the state.

In this regard, an order has been issued by the School Education Department, stating that a total of 11,000 guest teachers will be appointed temporarily on honorarium basis for the vacant posts of subject teachers in government high schools in the year 2025-26, in the interest of the academic well-being of the students, until they are filled through direct recruitment/promotion/transfer or until the end of March-2026 of the current academic year, whichever is earlier.

Accordingly, in the first phase of the year 2025-26, in the interest of the students, in the interest of the academic well-being of the students, the Government has approved the appointment of a total of 9499 guest teachers on temporary basis on honorarium basis with immediate effect, subject to the following conditions as mentioned in references (3) and (4). The said guest teachers have been directed to be appointed from 01.06.2025.

Benefits:-

1. Taluk-wise guest teacher posts have been allocated to government high schools to quickly recruit guest teachers only for the necessary vacant posts in government high schools.
2. The responsibility of selecting guest teachers will be assigned through the head teachers of the concerned government high schools.
3. Steps will be taken to appoint 100 percent of the vacant posts of associate teachers in Government Karnataka Public Schools/Bengaluru Public Schools and Adarsh ​​Vidyalayas of the School Education Department by giving first priority to guest teachers.
4. Regarding the recruitment of government high school guest teachers, priority has been given to recruiting teachers of difficult subjects such as Mathematics, Science and English. Then priority will be given to other subjects.
5. Guest teacher posts cannot be sanctioned to schools that have teachers in excess of the said subjects.
6. If a permanent teacher is posted to a post where a guest teacher was appointed through transfer/appointment, the guest teacher working in the said post shall be released from duty.
7. Guest teachers shall be provided on priority to high schools with the largest number of students and the largest number of vacant posts of teachers.
8. The minimum educational qualification prescribed in the cadre and recruitment rules for the respective post of guest teachers shall be considered and the candidate with the highest merit among the applications received for the appointment of guest teachers shall be selected.
9. The attendance register of guest teachers shall be maintained separately.
10. The honorarium rate for government high school guest teachers shall be Rs. 12500/- as fixed in the government order of reference (2). This honorarium shall be paid from the date of reporting for duty by the guest teacher.
11. As per the total 9499 vacancies available in the transfer software on date: 28.04.2025, the posts of guest teachers have been allocated taluk-wise. After the said guest teachers posts have been reallocated taluk-wise and the grant details have been submitted to this office, guest teachers cannot be reallocated from taluk to taluk,
12. Guest teacher posts cannot be sanctioned for the posts vacated on assignment.
13. 13, If there is a need for guest teachers for more vacant posts, the information should be submitted through the Deputy Director (Administration).
14. Considering all the above points, considering all the factors, under the guidance of the department, the department’s rules and circulars, as per the consent of the government to recruit guest teachers for a total of 11000 posts in reference (1), and subject to the conditions imposed in the letter of reference (3) and (4), in the first phase of the year 2025-26, a total of 9499 posts of guest teachers currently vacant in the government high schools of the state have been allocated and permission has been given.
15. It has been instructed to take action so that there are no lapses in the above matter, in case of any lapse, the concerned Deputy Director (Administration) and Field Education Officers will be held directly responsible and disciplinary action will be taken.
