WhatsApp, Meta’s free instant messaging and calling platform, is a staple for almost every Android smartphone user around the world. However, with the ever-growing capabilities of WhatsApp, the minimum requirement to run WhatsApp is updated and some older smartphones lose permanent access to the application.
According to the report, more than 20 different Android smartphones will lose access to WhatsApp on January 1, the first day of the new year. Does not work for devices still running on Android KitKat or earlier operating system version. Apart from WhatsApp, there is a high probability that some other meta apps like Facebook and Instagram will stop working on these mobiles soon. Interestingly, some of the smartphones on this list are from brands like HTC and LG that stopped making smartphones years ago.
Note that all devices set to lose access to WhatsApp are at least 10 years old. So, even if you have a five or six year old Android smartphone, WhatsApp works as expected. However, if you have one of the smartphones then switch immediately
