The KAS (Karnataka Administrative Services) exam syllabus conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) is divided into three stages:
- Preliminary Exam This stage is conducted for saving, it is like a selection test. Paper 1: General Studies
- National and International Ceremonies
- History of India
- Geography of India and Karnataka
- Politics and Administration
- Economic and Social Development
- Environment and environmental pollution
- General Science and Technology Paper 2: General Skills (CSAT)
- Comprehension
- Sensibility and decision making
- Logical and quantitative skills
- Modern General Science
- Main Exam This stage is a detailed written exam and is very important. Compulsory Language Papers:
- Kannada Language Test
- English Language Test General Studies Papers (250 Marks in all):
- Paper 1: Indian History and Culture, India’s Freedom Struggle
- Paper 2: Geography of India and Karnataka
- Paper 3: Government, Constitution, and Politics
- Paper 4: Economy and Development
- Paper 5: Ecology and Technology
- Paper 6: Social Justice and Ethics Optional Subject:
Candidates can choose an optional subject as per their interest. (Eg: Kannada Literature, Ancient History, Science etc.)
- Personality Test/Interview This stage will be of 200 marks. At this stage the candidate’s general knowledge, decisiveness, and personality are evaluated.
Information:
The preliminary stage comes to the qualifying round, the main exam marks and interview marks are added to the final selection list.
