The central government has made e-KYC and physical authentication mandatory for availing the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Officials have informed that the payment of subsidy has been stopped for beneficiaries who have not completed e-KYC and physical verification till now.
Many farmers benefiting from this scheme have not yet completed e-KYC. Farmers do not seem interested in completing e-KYC despite constant appeals by the agriculture department. In this context, the Agriculture Department has already organized e-KYC and physical verification camps at various panchayat levels in some districts. Under this scheme, eligible farmers will get a total of Rs 6000 per annum in three installments of Rs 2 thousand each.
In 2019, the central government implemented the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, which directly transfers money to the beneficiary’s account through DBT, in order to provide financial assistance to the farmers including purchase of seeds and fertilizers.
How to do e-KYC?
Beneficiaries can do e-KYC through https://pmkisan.gov.in website or PM Kisan mobile app. Beneficiaries whose mobile number is linked with Aadhaar number through OTP can do e-KYC through https://pmkisan.gov.in website. Click on the KYC link and enter the OTP sent to the mobile number containing the Aadhaar number (and then enter captcha) and do e-KYC for free. It is possible to complete the e-KYC process on a smartphone only if the mobile number is linked to Aadhaar. Because the OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Interested farmers can also complete the e-KYC process by meeting the agriculture department officials.
