12 thousand employees will be recruited in the country. 250 new branches are being opened across the country. This recruitment process will be done in both clerk and officer cadres. Although there may be slight variation in the final number based on retirement and new requirements, the total recruitment number is expected to reach 12,000 by the end of the year, informed the bank’s chairman C.S. Shetty.
Last year, the bank had made a large-scale recruitment, including 1,500 separate IT specialists. However, he clarified that this time there is no need for more recruitment in the IT sector. With this, the bank is certain to recruit thousands of employees by the end of March 2027.
SBI, with over 2.45 lakh employees as of March 2026, is one of the largest employers in India. Although the bank already has a wide network, it has decided to further strengthen its presence in new residential areas and commercially active areas. As part of this, some branches will be reorganized and a net of 200 to 250 new branches will be added per year.
