The process of re-verification and enumeration of beneficiaries of the Karnataka government’s ambitious ‘Griha Jyothi’ scheme has officially begun across the state from today. The Energy Department staff (motor readers) will conduct this verification by visiting every house to ensure that the scheme reaches the eligible beneficiaries and to prevent fake or commercial usage connections.
Here is a list of the necessary documents that you need to keep ready for re-registration and on-site verification of the details asked by the staff:
Documents required for Griha Jyoti re-application
Whether you are the owner of the house or the tenant, keep the following documents ready:
Aadhaar Card: Applicant’s Aadhaar card (its name should match the electricity bill or rental agreement).
Electricity Bill and Account ID: Your Eskom (BESCOM, MESCOM, HESCOM etc.) latest electricity bill and the customer identification number in it.
Ration Card: BPL or APL card details.
Voter ID Card: Voter ID card is being made mandatory to verify the resident of Karnataka.
PAN Card: To identify income tax payers and verify eligibility. Passport size photograph: A recent photograph of the applicant. Caste Certificate: Only if belonging to SC/ST category (if applicable).
Additional documents for tenants:
Rent or lease agreement: Proof that you are currently residing in the house.
House owner’s consent letter: No objection letter obtained from the owner.
Self-declaration affidavit: A letter confirming that I am the current resident.
How to apply?
House-to-house survey: From today, Eskom staff who will come to your house will check and update your documents on the spot through a mobile app. Give them full cooperation.
Online: You can personally visit the official Seva Sindhu portal sevasindhugs.karnataka.gov.in and re-apply through Aadhaar OTP.
Offline: You can visit your nearest Karnataka One, Bangalore One or Gram One centers with the necessary documents and apply for free.
