Government orders recruitment of ‘5,910 Guest Lecturers’ vacancies in ‘Government PU Colleges’ of the state | Guest Lecturers Jobs

The Karnataka government has taken an important decision in the academic interest of students studying in government pre-university colleges of the state. The Department of School Education (Pre-university) has issued an official order to temporarily appoint a total of 5,910 guest lecturers to fill the vacant lecturer posts for the academic year 2026-27.

According to an official memorandum issued by the director of the department on May 20, 2026, this appointment will be limited to a period of only 10 months or till the end of the academic year.

Important Terms and Conditions:

To prevent any loopholes in the process of appointment of guest lecturers, the department has issued strict guidelines:

Deployment: Lecturers from government PU colleges with less workload in the district should first be deployed to other colleges where there are no lecturers. After that, guest lecturers should be appointed only for the remaining vacancies.

Maximum workload: Each guest lecturer is allowed to be given a maximum workload of 10 to 12 hours in a week. If the workload is more than 12 hours, two guest lecturers can be used there.

Selection Criteria: If more than one candidate applies, the candidate with the highest marks in Post Graduation will be selected by a committee comprising the Principal and Senior Lecturers.

Who is not eligible?: Guest lecturers cannot be appointed for temporary vacancies arising from long-term leave or for posts arising from unauthorized absence.

Prohibition of Service Rights and Certificates: This appointment is purely temporary and the service of the guest lecturer will be automatically cancelled as soon as a permanent lecturer is appointed or transferred. No service certificate or service book can be opened for them.
