Free Notebook Bhagya Yojana for Government School Students is a significant step taken by Education Department of Government of Karnataka. Free notebooks have now been added to the already ongoing free heating, milk, textbooks, uniforms, checks (shoes) and bags.
Key points of the project:
- At least 6 notebooks: Every government school student will be given at least six notebooks per year free of cost. This will be a great relief for families who cannot afford books for writing.
- Who benefits?
· Start: For all government school students from class 1 to 10.
· Extension: The government is thinking of extending it to PUC (Pre-University Course ie Class 11 and 12) students as well. It provides full level support in secondary education. - Implementation: These notebooks will be printed, collected and distributed to schools along with textbooks by the Karnataka Text Book Society (KTBS). This ensures quality and timely delivery.
- Commencement Date: This scheme will be implemented from the academic year 2026-27. Students will start availing this facility from June 2026 when the new year syllabus starts.
Current Government School Facilities (in brief):
· Nutrition: bisyuta (midday meal) and milk (ksheerabhagya).

· Attire: Uniform, checks (shoes) and socks (moja).
