The Karnataka Examinations Authority will conduct the K-SET exam, the eligibility test for degree college lecturers, on Sunday (November 2), and has taken strict measures.
This time too, candidates will be screened through facial recognition technology before being allowed into the examination center.
The exam will be conducted under camera surveillance, said H. Prasanna, Executive Director of the Karnataka Examinations Authority.
A total of 1.36 lakh candidates have taken the K-SET exam for 33 subjects. The exam will be held at 316 centers in 11 districts (Bengaluru, Bellary, Belgaum, Davangere, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Mangalore, Mysore, Shivamogga, Tumkur, Vijayapura), he explained.
While the exam for all 33 subjects will be held in Bengaluru, only 11 subjects will be held in the remaining districts. He said that there will be no negative evaluation for these exams.
The exams will be held from 10 am to 1 pm, and the question papers of both the papers (Paper 1 & 2) will be given at once. Candidates will have to answer the 100 marks general knowledge and 200 marks subject-wise papers in a period of three hours. He advised that separate OMRs are being provided for both the papers and that the answers should be carefully recorded in the respective OMRs.
Like all the previous exams, the dress code will be mandatory for this exam as well.
Dress Code for Male Candidates
Full-sleeved shirts are not permitted on the day of the examination. Male candidates are to wear half-sleeved shirts. Collarless shirts are preferred wherever possible. Trousers and plain trousers (without pockets or with minimal pockets) are the preferred dress code for male candidates. Kurta pyjamas and jeans are not permitted.
The clothes worn by male candidates should be light. That is, there should be no zip pockets, pocket holes, large buttonholes and elaborate embroidery. Shoes are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall. Candidates are advised to wear sandals or flat-soled shoes. Candidates should not wear any metal ornaments around the neck or wear earrings, rings and bracelets.
Dress Code for Female Candidates
Female candidates are not allowed to wear clothes with elaborate embroidery, flowers, brooches or buttons. Full sleeves and jeans should not be worn on the day of the examination, instead half sleeves should be worn so that they do not feel embarrassed and as per the rules mentioned above. High heels, sandals and shoes with thick soles or slippers should not be worn. Thin soles are mandatory. Female candidates should not wear any kind of metal jewellery. (Except for mangalsutra and anklets).
List of Prohibited Items
In addition to following the dress code, no electronic items, mobiles, pen drives, microphones, Bluetooth devices and wrist watches are allowed inside the examination hall for the examination centre listed below. Bringing and eating edible items into the examination hall is prohibited, not even drinking water bottles are allowed. Drinking water will be provided at the examination centre itself. Pencils, paper, erasers, geometry boxes and log tables are not allowed inside the examination centre. Hats should not be worn on the head. No mask of any kind should be worn.
Only the following items are allowed to be brought on the day of the examination. All candidates are required to carry the admit card. It is mandatory to carry a valid government issued photo ID. Candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination hall till the last bell of the examination. Candidates must strictly follow the above rules, failing which strict action will be taken against the candidates as per the rules.
