Funeral Relief Scheme: Who is eligible? How to apply

The Karnataka Building Construction and Workers’ Welfare Board has implemented a funeral compensation scheme with the aim of providing financial security to the families of registered construction workers.

Under this scheme, if a worker dies prematurely while on duty, his family will be provided with funeral expenses and compensation.

As per the state government, the family of a worker who died after July 16, 2025 will get a total of ₹1.50 lakh, including ₹4,000 for the funeral and ₹1.46 lakh as compensation. If the death of the worker occurred before the above date, the compensation will be ₹75,000.

What are the eligibility criteria to avail the scheme?

  • Must be a registered construction worker with the Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
  • The deceased worker whose name has been given as a nominee can apply for this facility.
  • The death certificate and identity card of the worker must be submitted along with the application.
  • His registration must be active at the time of death.
  • If the worker dies after July 16, 2025, he will be eligible to get the revised amount.
  • If the death occurs on or before these dates, the applicant will be eligible to get the old amount.

  • Bank passbook (of the beneficiary or nominee).
  • Ration card
  • Labour identity card.
  • Aadhar card

  • Photograph
  • Employment certificate

How to register?

  • Visit the official website of ‘KBOCWWB’ https://kbocwwb.karnataka.gov.in/login. Then select ‘Register’.
  • Enter Aadhaar number and mobile number, get verified through OTP.
  • Then select ‘Register’, fill the required documents and submit the application, and you will be registered.

What is the application process?

  • The applicant must fill out Form Eighteen and submit it to the department.
  • The death certificate of the deceased must be attached with the application.
  • The identity card or labor registration number must be entered.
  • This facility can be applied for only up to 1 year from the time of death.
