CBSE has opened online applications for the ‘Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship’ scheme. This scholarship scheme is specifically being offered by the CBSE board to meritorious girl students who have passed class 10 and are now pursuing their studies in classes 11 and 12.
The last date for submitting applications is October 23.
The CEBSC’s Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship is a boon for many parents who want to provide a good education to their daughter and make her strong. To be eligible for this scholarship, girls must have scored at least 70% marks in the Class 10 board examination.
This year, there are two sections in this scheme:
Scholarship 2025: For girls who passed class 10 in 2025 and are now studying in class 11.
Renewal 2024: For girls who received this scholarship last year and now want to continue it.
What is the eligibility?
- The student should be the only daughter of the parents.
- Must have secured 70% or above marks in class 10.
- Must be studying in a CBSE school.
- Tuition fees should not exceed ₹2,500 per month till class 10. For classes 11 and 12, the limit is ₹3,000 per month (NRI girl students are exempted up to ₹6,000).
- Annual family income should not exceed ₹8 lakh.
- Good conduct and regular attendance of the student are also required.
What are the benefits?
Selected students will get a scholarship of up to Rs. 500 per month. This scholarship will last for a maximum of two years. After the initial scholarship, it will be renewed only if they score 70% or more marks in class 11 and get promoted to class 12.
How to apply?
Applications must be submitted online. The school where the student is studying will verify the application. If the application is incomplete or not verified by the school, it will not be accepted. Parents will also need to upload their income affidavit (on notarized stamp paper) and fee slips during the application process.
