How much does it cost?

If you are going to install solar panels, the cost can vary. It will cost around Rs 90,000 for 1 kW, around Rs 1.5 lakh for 2 kW and Rs 2 lakh for 3 kW.

Who will get how much subsidy?

If you are planning to install solar panels on the roof of a residential house, you can apply for subsidy under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Under this scheme, the subsidy is Rs 18,000 for 1 kW, Rs 30,000 for 2 kW, Rs 78,000 for 3 kW. The load should not exceed 85% to get the subsidy.

Saves electricity bill in 4 years

Rooftop solar panels are a long-term investment. The total annual savings can be achieved from 1 kW to 120 kWh and a total annual saving of Rs 7 per unit from 3 kW solar panels is Rs 30,240. However, if the cost of 3 kW is Rs 2 lakh and the subsidy is Rs 78000, the cost is Rs 1.2 lakh. That is, in a total of 4 years, you will be able to save electricity of Rs 30 thousand every year and will be able to cover the entire cost.

Registration for such PM Surya Griha Yojana has been started. Registration has started from the postal department, you can apply for PM Surya Yojana through the postal department.

How to apply for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana?

  • Register on the portal https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in/: State and Electricity Distribution Company
  • Enter your electricity consumer number, mobile number and email address.
  • Apply for Rooftop Solar as per the form.
  • Once you get approval, install the plant through any registered vendor in your DISCOM.
  • Submit member details and apply for net meter.
  • After this, a commission certificate will be generated from the portal.
  • Then you have to submit bank account details and cancelled cheque through the portal.
  • You will get your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
