Independence Day: Online quiz show, Rs 25,000 for winner

As part of India’s 78th Independence Day celebrations, the Ministry of Defense in collaboration with MyGov organized an online quiz on the theme “Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative in Defense Production”.

The event, which runs from July 26 to August 10, 2024, aims to raise awareness and enthusiasm about India’s self-reliance in defense manufacturing.

In an official notification, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has highlighted the importance of this programme. “As you know, Independence Day is celebrated every year with enthusiasm and fervor. This year, the Ministry of Defense in collaboration with MyGov will organize an online quiz competition on the topic ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative in Defense Production’ from July 26 to August 10, 2024,” the notification said.

The UGC has requested Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to widely disseminate information about the quiz among students, faculty and other stakeholders. The call for maximum participation shows the importance of the initiative in instilling a sense of national pride and creating awareness about India’s strides in defense manufacturing.

The quiz is designed to be accessible and engaging, catering to a wide audience by being bilingual in Hindi and English. Participants have five minutes to answer a maximum of 20 questions, making it a fast-paced and exciting challenge.

To encourage participation, the Ministry of Defense has announced lucrative cash prizes for the first ten winners. First prize winner Rs.25,000, second prize winner Rs.15,000, third prize winner Rs.10,000. Additionally, seven consolation prizes of Rs 5,000 each will be awarded. This prize structure is expected to draw interest from participants nationwide.

Individuals interested in participating in the quiz will need to provide basic personal information including their name, father/mother’s name, date of birth, mailing address, email address and mobile number. After the announcement of the results, the winners will have to submit reliable documents to verify their identity, age, address and bank details. This ensures a fair and transparent process for awarding prizes.

The joint initiative by the Ministry of Defense and MyGov is a part of the broader “Atmanirbhar Bharat” campaign. It heralds self-reliance in various sectors including defense production. By focusing the quiz on this topic, the organizers aim to educate and inspire participants about India’s achievements and ongoing efforts in developing indigenous defense technologies and manufacturing capabilities.

The quiz not only serves as a practice medium but also as an educational tool, providing participants with valuable knowledge about India’s defense sector. It is an opportunity for citizens to learn about the critical role of self-reliance in national security and to appreciate the efforts made to make India a global leader in defense manufacturing.
