Aadhaar card is required to avail almost every government benefit today. Education is needed, job is also needed. It is a unique identity card containing personal and biometric information for residents of India. Annual renewal of Aadhaar card is encouraged. Especially for those above 15 years.

The Aadhaar card was launched on 28 January 2009 by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. According to this, Indian people have been using Aadhaar card for the last 15 years. It contains people’s biometric information, photo, address, email id, phone number and other information. It is the UIDAI that manages the personal information of everyone. It can be used for many types of services. It is used by students from enrolling in schools and colleges to availing government services.

To ensure accuracy of data, updating Aadhaar information annually is encouraged and also very important. Especially if you haven’t updated your Aadhaar photo in over a year, even since the day you received Aadhaar, consider now as a good time.

According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) everyone above 15 years of age should also update their Aadhaar details, including photo. If you too are now looking to upload your portrait then here are some simple tips.

UIDAI allows Aadhaar card holders to update their demographic details like name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number, e-mail address. This should be known before updating the photo. To update your photo, biometric details, fingerprint, iris, you need to visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center. And a minimum service charge has to be paid.

Here are the simple steps to update your photo in Aadhaar..
Visit UIDAI official website uidai.gov.in.
Download Aadhaar Enrollment Application Form from this website. Or
Get it at your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra, Aadhaar Enrollment Centre.
Fill the required information in the application carefully.

You can visit appointments.uidai.gov.in to check your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Then the Aadhaar Seva Kendra Executive will verify your details through biometric verification.
Then click on photo to upload your new photo.
A service charge of at least Rs.100 plus GST should be paid.
Then you will be given a receipt.

Then within at least 90 days with your details, the Aadhaar card will be updated. You can check Aadhaar card status online by URN number. If there is an update, you can download it and take a print.
