The Government has instructed to conduct the Karnataka State Assistant Professor Eligibility Test conducted by the Karnataka Government only through the Karnataka Authority.
Sheetal M., Under Secretary, Higher Education Department, Govt. Hiremath has issued an order in this regard.
The University Grants Commission, in its meeting held on 19/12/2019, based on the recommendations of the Accreditation Committee, decided to grant accreditation to the University of Mysore to conduct 3 KSET examinations on behalf of the State of Karnataka, for 3 years from 14/01/2020 in 41 subjects. The University of Mysore will be permitted to conduct the Karnataka State Assistant Professor Eligibility Test (K-SET) for the academic year 2022 for the state nodal agencies identified by the respective state governments requiring recognition by the UGC.
However, there have been complaints that there was malpractice in the K-SET examination held in Mysore University in July-2021 and the coordinator of the K-SET examination of Mysore University and others were fully responsible for this process, and a committee has been ordered to form a separate investigation in this regard. In view of the factors outlined in the proposal dated 17/12/2022, the State Government may identify an agency under the concept and purview of the UGC, be it a university or a recognized examination body or a recognized body for recruitment of teachers for higher education, to conduct the state qualifying examination requiring recognition by the UGC.
