The age limit for recruitment of police constables has been increased by two years.

The government has taken a decision to relax the age limit for police recruitment by two years. There was a lot of pressure to raise the age limit. The recruitment process was postponed for a month. It is said that now the age limit has been increased by two years.

The state government has issued an order increasing the maximum age limit for the posts of Police Constable (Civil) and Police Constable (CAR and DAR) by one time only by 2 years.

With this, the demand of constable post aspirants has been fulfilled for many months.

The maximum age limit prescribed for these posts has been increased only once (2022-23) for a total of 3,484 posts of Police Constable (CAR and DAR) including 420+3,064 and Police Constable (Civil) for 1,591 posts including 1,137+454.

The age limit has been raised to 27 years for general category, 29 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes and 32 years for tribal candidates.

PSI age limit increase? :

After this, the clamor for increasing the age limit of PSI candidates will become stronger. The whole exam has been canceled due to illegal background in the PSI exam. Hundreds of passers protested continuously and demanded the government to select honest people for the post or increase the age limit. Thus, it is said that there is a possibility that his demand will be fulfilled.

Why the increase? :

In 2020, 2021, there was no recruitment of constables in the police department due to Corona. Thus thousands of candidates were deprived of opportunity. There were hundreds of petitions for exemption of 2 years in the age limit. The government has informed that the age limit has now been increased in view of the future of these candidates. More than 5 thousand candidates will benefit from this order of the government.
