KSET Notification 2024

Karnataka State Assistant Professor Eligibility Test (KSET) – 2024 has invited applications from the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Eligible candidates can submit their applications through online and as directed by the state government, the KSET exam (KSET- 2024) will be conducted on November 24, KEA said.

Candidates can apply for KSET-2024 through online only. Eligible candidates who have graduated from a university recognized by UGC can apply online by accessing the KEA website https://kea.kar.nic.in. KSET 2024 exam is conducted in 41 subjects and candidates who qualify in this exam are eligible for appointment to Assistant Professor posts in any University, First Class Degree College, Higher Education Institution (Government, Aided and Private) in Karnataka State.

5) Date of Exam- November 24

Age Limit:

There is no upper age limit for taking Karnataka State Assistant Professor Eligibility Test.

Examination Fee, Mode of Payment

1) Examination Fee :
For General Category, Category 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B and Other State candidates: Rs.1,000.
For Category-I, SC, ST, Handicapped, and Third Gender Candidates: Rs.700.

2) Mode of Fee Payment:
Fees should be paid online. Fee Exemption is given to Specially Skilled Category-I, SC, ST, Third Gender Candidates. (Medical Certificate with 40% or more disability)

Exam Mode, Exam Date

There are two papers in KSET exam. Both papers also contain multiple choice questions. The exam will be held on November 24 in one session as follows.

Paper-1: 50 Questions (100 Marks)
Paper-2: 100 Question (200 Marks)
(Time-10 AM to 1 PM)

Method of Result Declaration

The criteria of KSET will be as per the criteria of UGC-NET as per UGC guidelines. Candidates should obtain the minimum marks specified below in the total marks of Paper-I and Paper-II for the qualification of Assistant Professor.

General Category(GM): Aggregate % in both papers. 40 marks
Sc. ST, Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, Handicapped, Third Gender: 35% marks in both papers combined

Eligibility Provisions

1) Candidates must have secured 55% marks (not rounded off) in general category examination from University, Higher Education Institution recognized by UGC or equivalent. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Candidates (Category-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB), Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Third Gender Group should have secured 50% marks (not rounded off) .

2) Masters degree holders and Masters degree students studying in the current academic year (first and second) are eligible to take the Cassette examination. However, candidates who are currently studying will be given space to take the exam only on a temporary basis. 55% for General Category and 55% for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Category-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, and IIIB, Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Third Gender candidates, . Eligibility certificate of Assistant Professor can be obtained only if he has secured 50% marks and has qualified and submitted his master’s degree mark sheets within two years from the date of declaration of KCET result. Else their eligibility will be cancelled.

3) Candidates have to take the KSET examination in the same subject studied in the Master’s degree. For the subjects which are not in the current cassette publication, the candidates can appear for UGC, NET which is held twice a year. Or take the UGC-CSIR-NET exam.

4) Candidates who have completed Master’s examination by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) and Ph.D degree holders will be exempted by 5% of total marks (50% instead of 55%) for taking KSET examination.

5) Other than general category candidates, candidates who wish to get reservation should clearly mentioned in the online application itself. SC, ST, CAT-1, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB candidates should attach category certificates issued by competent authorities. If the affidavits of these candidates are found to be false at any stage, their candidature will be canceled without notice and legal action will be taken against them.

6) There will be no reservation for candidates from outside the state. They can apply for admission under general category only if they have secured minimum 55% marks or more in the post graduation examination. SC/ST/OBC eligibility rule is applicable only for SC/ST/OBC candidates from Karnataka.

7) Candidates should note that their candidature is provisional. It should not be understood that the Karnataka Examination Authority has considered him as an eligible candidate just because he has been admitted. After checking the eligibility criteria of the candidates, their candidature will be considered.

8) Candidates who have already qualified in Cassette Examination cannot apply for the upcoming Cassette Examination in the same subject. In case candidates who have re-applied for KSET qualification are found to have re-applied, the eligibility of such candidates will be canceled and the KSET exam qualification they have obtained earlier will also be withdrawn through de-notification.

9) Candidates having a two-year post-graduate diploma/certificate from an Indian university/institute or a foreign degree/diploma certificate from a foreign university/institute may, in their own interest, seek equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with a recognized Indian post-graduate degree (Association of Indian Universities (AIU). New Delhi) to be ascertained from.

Exception:

For recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor in the State of Karnataka, University / First Class Colleges / Higher Education Institutions (Government / Aided / Private), there is a rule that candidates must have qualified in KSET or NET examination.

a) Exemption from Kset Eligibility Test as per regulations issued by UGC from time to time, UGC Guidelines and Acts.

a) Candidates who have cleared UGC-NET / CSIR-NET, JRF examinations prior to 1989 are exempted from KSET examination.

e) KSET Candidates Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination for Assistant Professors conducted prior to 1st June 2002 will also be exempted from KSET examination. Such candidates will be eligible for the post of Assistant Professor anywhere in India. But after 1st June 2002 the candidates qualified in the KCET are eligible for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities / First Class Colleges of the respective States.
